Why participate? Talking about death is uncomfortable!

We know that thinking about, and talking about, death and dying can be very uncomfortable.

We see facing this discomfort as an an act of care for those who love you - by thinking things through, and communicating your wishes, you can save your children, friends, and loved ones from uncertainty, fear, and regret as they face grief and loss.

Many Friends value simplicity; but the default of medical care at the end-of-life is often full of complex, invasive and painful interventions.

Many Friends value simplicity; but the default of funeral care is expensive and ornate in a way few families desire.

Many Friends value peace; but the default can be death in a hospital room rather than at home.

Many Friends value right relationship; but the end of life can leave many words unsaid, forgiveness unexpressed, confusion and dismay in those who survive a loss.

We hope to begin to open the way for vital conversations in our community and in our families about love, loss, and the great mystery that awaits us all.
